States that upon buying the mare, Seeley issued a receipt stating that the mare had never been in the possession of the United States Government, but that a Government brand appeared on the horse after she shed her hair. Offers to sell her to Levassor at a price Levassor sets. Reports "I have been running about at quite a rate but there is no prospect of my getting married. I think that soon I shall give up all thought of it." Instructs Levassor to respond care of E. Parson's & Company. Written on stationery containing a printed image of Astor House in New York City. |
