Content Description | Location listed as "Hospital Hut." Writes, "An officer from below has been here yesterday and taken away the guard & fatigue men - the consequence is, the sentry is removed from the spring which has been so low for a day or two past that we were obliged to restrict each ward to a certain quantity - we have no means of getting provision - nor labour to open & cover the necessary vaults or perform other services conducive to cleanliness & preventive of contagion. A guard of six, with six fatigue men are indispensably necessary - if they are to be sent from the point I hope they will come to day if they are to be furnished by the army I beg to know it that I may make an immediate application." |
