Content Description Certifies receipt of a payment of twelve shillings from Captain Constant Freeman for an "assessment levied on the Society of Cincinnati." Jackson had commanded the 16th Massachusetts Regiment and the 4th Massachusetts Regiment during the Revolutionary War. He served as treasurer of the Society of Cincinnati for the state of Massachusetts.
