Transcript	Show/hide Head Quarters Harpers Ferry April 29, 1861 Governor I arrived here this evening, and am availing myself of the earliest opportunity to suggest the importance in a military point of view, of having a Rail Road connecting Strausburg and Winchester. The advantages of this connection in throwing heavy ordinance, and large bodies of troops suddenly on our Northern Frontier, into Maryland, or the District of Columbia are such, as to make it my duty to recommend its immediate construction, unless there are weighty reasons to the contrary.
