Content Description | Written by Missouri Senator Benton. References Rivis's letter of 8 October. Benton tries to calm fears about state's debt. Says he immediately applied to the most reliable businessmen to find an answer for him. The businessmen say that the laws of nature would change before Missouri would repudiate her debt or falter in her payments. Says everyone in Missouri takes great pride in their state and does not want to lose it. Says he is going to Jefferson City to see the governor and other officers of the government and impress that upon them. |
