Content Description | Thin red border on recto. Subject has been severely wounded in both eyes, both are swollen shut. His hands rest in his lap. Graphite inscription on verso "WIA Port Republic, VA. WIA Petersburg 6-9-62 6-18-64 at G'burg." Ink inscription on verso "Sergt John W. Shelow, Co A 110th Pa." Photographers imprint on verso: "From Nobell General Hospital, U.S.A. Portsmouth Grove, R.I. Address 'J. A. Williams, Post Office Box 507, Newport, R.I.' The Negative of this Picture is preserved for two years." |
