Content Description | Webb explains why he could not reply earlier to Platt, defending Platt's accusations of neglecting his correspondence. Relates he was ill when receiving two of Platt's notes, and had company when Platt's third note was delivered. Recently manned a barge upriver (possibly the Hudson), at the request of General Henry Knox. Notes that the barge has taken one more trip up the river, for the purpose of transporting Webb's private stores. Has no objection to Platt using the barge when it returns. |
