Handwritten copy of newspaper clipping summarizing John's life, praising his character and accomplishments, and a describing his death. "At the battle of Shiloh…he was severely wounded in the head…So soon as his health permitted he was again with his regiment…But at length, at the battle of Resacca, in Georgia,…he was struck by the fragment of a shell from the enemy's battery, near the ancle, terribly mangling and nearly severing his leg."
