Regrets that the Reverend Doctor Mason's letter was not attended to sooner and states that he asked a gentleman to reply to it but it must have been omitted. Believes Doctor Mason's idea of providing an early military education is "a solid one" and "the nation which would adopt it would long experience its beneficial effects." But has doubts whether the people of the United States would accept it. Thanks Mason for his letter (see GLC02437.04483). |
