Additional Information | Forrest was a candidate for mayor of Houston in 1837 and was involved in the early Republic of Texas. He later led the U.S.S. flagship General Burnside through Tennessee rivers to Lamb's Ferry where he destroyed Confederate communication. He commanded the 11th district of the Mississippi Squadron and was a U.S. marshal in Maryland. |
