Content Description Warren describes the resolve of the people to resist "the strides of Wanton power" and fears the results, "an innocent Land Drenched [in] Blood." Believes that surely this destruction and anger can't continue much longer, particularly the blockade of Boston. Encourages future correspondence and support.

Additional Information Born and raised in Massachusetts, Mercy Otis, brother of lawyer James Otis, married James Warren in 1754. She participated in the patriot cause during the Revolution, hosting political meetings in her home. Her play, The Adulateur, was published in 1772, and a book of her poetry was published in 1790. In 1805 she wrote a history of the American Revolution.
