Smet records his journey past Chimney Rock, Nebraska, along the Missouri River, travelling as far as Fort Vancouver, Washington. He resides for one year among the Rocky Mountain Tribes, including the Flat Heads. Discusses geography and the daily details of his journey with a focus on teaching Christianity to the Native Americans he encounters.
