Content Description California State Representative Denver recommends Singleton Vaughan, Jr., to Dobbin, Secretary of the Navy, for a vacant position in the Annapolis, Maryland Naval Academy. States that Vaughan's family "is very respectable but poor, which will induce [Vaughan] to make greater exertions to build up his own fortunes." Also signed by Milton S. [Sathauer?] who includes a brief recommendation for Vaughn.
