Additional Information Cheves was a Representative from South Carolina and was elected president of the Bank of the United States in 1819. Pickens was the son of the Andrew Pickens, a Representative from South Carolina, who fought in the Revolutionary War. The younger Pickens served as governor of South Carolina 1816-1818.
