Responds on behalf of Washington to Knox's previous letter regarding the [3rd Massachusetts] being without their compliment of field officers (see letter GLC02437.02202). Writes that at present, lack of field officers cannot be remedied. Reports that Colonel Rose is ill and Colonel Michael Jackson is unable to perform the duty.
