Additional Information Blanchard was a pastor, educator, publisher and staunch abolitionist. He was founder and first president of Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois (1860). Blanchard was also a close friend of Harriett Beecher Stowe and her brother, Henry Ward Beecher, both staunch abolitionists. Stuart was a New York lawyer.
