Additional Information Commodore Josiah Tattnall became the senior flag officer of the Navy of Georgia in February 1861 after his resignation from the United States Navy. Tattnall had come to Savannah to examine the Huntress and the Savannah, two ships recently secured for the Georgia Navy.
