[draft] Fredericksburg 25th Novr 1778 My Dr Brother Tomorrow morning we shall move from this place to [Pluckener?] in Jersey - Lucy with her charming girl set off to day --- I this day recd yours of the 16th [by?] a man with a hard name - I wrote you some days ago [by?] Captain Stevens respecting the lands at Warren - I remember an act of the General Court which poss'd some time last summer which forbid any sales being made of the lands of the Absentees in consequence of Taxes [2] being laid or indeed any taxes being assesd at any rate on said Lands - I wish you to inquire concerning this Law and if you said it so get the clerk of the Court or some proper person to write to the Mr Constable of the Town of Warren forbidding him to make sale agreeable to his Threat[.] You will also consult with some person whether it's better to pay it if so you will do it - I hope some how to get Lucys Proportion of the Estate if so it will amply recompense it[.] please to a write me the result - Capt Lt Vose who delivers [3] you this will bring on a Waggon to Carry - if you should not have sent the things we wrote for before he set out it will be a good opportunity. but I hope you will have met with some [illegible] conveyance and that you have [text loss] and it - I am Dear [illegible] the utmost affection HKnox Mr Wm Knox [address leaf] Mr William Knox Boston [by?] Capt Vose - [docket] To Wm Knox
