Sir I have the honor to transmit to yr Excellency a resolve of the General Meetg of the Cincinnati expressive of their high sense of your [strikeout] militry [sic] merit, and also their wishes to associate you as one of their numbers - I have also transmitted the said resolve to his Excellcy the Count D [Estaing] senior officer of the Cincinnati, with a request that he would make known to you, your admission in the way that he should conceive most proper - [2] I [struck: f] experience a singular satisfaction in transmitting this information to a Gentleman, who has so highly illustrated himself [inserted: by his talents] in the [strikeout] [concurral] judgment of of [sic] the world I have the honor to be yours In most perfect respect Your Excellenys Most obedient humb servt His Excellcy The Marquies de Bouille [docket] The R Honble The Marquis de Bouille July 25 1787
