Content Description Says he sent a letter to her a few days ago, but did not know where he was going. Can now tell her that tonight he is leaving "for St. Michael, to return in a few days, then we are to proceed to Cadiz and Gibraltar." Reports he had an opportunity to write since an invalid from the crew is being shipped back home.

Additional Information Folder Information: Surgeon steward Tittle details the "Kearsarge's" 1862-1864 cruise, including her engagement with the CSS "Alabama." The USS "Kearsarge" eventually fought and sank the Confederate raider off the French coast on 19 June 1864.
