Remarks that Hodgdon's letter is "flattering, but [...] a poor boon." Adds that he hopes Knox will be able to "use your influence in my behalf, my perplexed circumstances I trust will apologize for this request." Place name listed as Wesford, possibly Westford, Massachusetts. "Public service" written on address leaf.
