Content Description | Written by Brigadier General Knox to Major Bauman. References Bauman's letter of 10 August 1781. Says he cannot give him a transfer as Colonel Popkins, who was supposed to replace him, was sick. Says all other line officers are not available because they are employed in the court of inquiry involving Colonel John Crane. Says he can leave for a few days if General McDougall is content having a captain replace him. Recommends Captain Frothingham as his replacement. |
