Transcript	Show/hide Dear Sister, ... when I held possession of Fort George nine dayes, though not altogether so quietly as I should wish. Two knights I was confoundedly alarmed, the last knight I completely [text loss] Out of the Frying pan into the fire ... I then made my way to Albany & lo on to Washington in high life to be seen. You undoubtly have had letters from Brother Ebane[zer] giving you an acct. of the attack on Fort Miggs, and the ardious Exertions he used to save his Fort, he certainly has distinguished himself more than any Officer, in the Army during this war [2] this we have from genl. Harrison. that his skills and Talents contributed much to enoy the Enemy. I have written him from NYork shall write him from this place Sister Mary I hope Your Good conduct and steady pursuit of virtue, will much contribute to Your Own happiness & the Honor of the family so the new House is allmost done at last. I hope you will soon git into It ... I expect you have been quite aLarmed, since the great navle fight on Lake Champlain I finally expect the Devil is to pay. one way or other the debates in Congress are very interesting ...
