Has heard about Channing's sister Ann's death and has written a letter of condolence to their mother. Shares his thoughts about grief and sends his love to the family. Adds a post script that his sons are entering into a partnership in Norfolk, Virginia. Asks Channing to do what he can for them. |

Additional Information | Ellery was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and was a member of the Continental Congress from Rhode Island from 1776 until 1785. He was Collector of the Port of Newport from 1790 until 1820. Channing was a publisher in Boston and a clergyman later in life. |
