Content Description Depicts DeWint House, Tappan, New York, a temporary headquarters of Commander-in-Chief George Washington during the American Revolution. Washington was present at the house during the trial of British spy, Major John André, and signed his execution warrant. Mountain and trees in the background, cattle and a pool of water in the foreground. Engraved by Samuel Valentine Hunt from an original study by Verboyck. Published by G. P. Putnam & Co. Printed by W. Pate.
