Thomas Erskine, 1750-1823, brother of David Steuart Erskine (11th Earl of Buchan, who corresponded with Lady Catharine Macaulay) contributed to passing Fox's Libel Act in 1792 which helped to blunt the use of libel prosecutions by the Pitt ministry. With bookplate of Gertrude Hamilton on front pastedown.
