She tried to get a new pair of shoes, needed 17 ration coupons for them. Asks about the weather in Washington [State] where he is now stationed. Went to the movies saw "Hangmen Also Die" and a Laurel and Hardy Picture.

Additional Information Fort Lewis is an Army base in Tacoma, Washington. "Hangmen Also Die" is loosely based on the 1942 assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, the Nazi Reich Protector of German-occupied Prague, number-two man in the SS, and a chief architect of the Holocaust, who was known as "The Hangman of Prague." Laurel and Hardy-Slapstick comedy team.
