Evans lost a wool shawl, coat, cape, and head dress at the Inaugural Reception and Ball held 4 March 1869. Brown signs, attesting that the prices Evans cited for his missing articles are just. Spinner and Edmunds sign 4 March 1870 authorizing the payment of $33.50 to Evans from the Inaugural Fund, New York Monument. Printed text indicates that Spinner and Edmunds sign from the Room of the National Monument Association in Washington, D. C. A smaller printed document signed by Charles E.
