Additional Information | Salem Towne (1746-1825) had a son by the same name, Salem Towne, Jr. (1779-1864). Both became militia generals, justices of the peace, and became active in the local government. However, preliminary research suggests that the younger Towne was not politically active yet by 1803, which suggests that the author of the present document is the elder Towne. |
