From Archive Folder The Henry Knox Papers [0117] January-March 1793
Title Rosalie Josephe Bacler de Leval to Henry Knox regarding a land settlement with Madame de Leval
Date 12 March 1793
Author Leval, Rosalie Josephe Bacler de (fl. 1790-1796)
Recipient Knox, Henry
Document Type Correspondence; Land transaction document; Legal document
Content Description Says Knox is far from doing her justice. Tells him he "must be convinced how much I have sacrificed, to come to such an amical settlement." Hopes the paperwork will not slow the settlement down. Says "all what I ask is, to be able to give Surety to my acquirors, this is what I take to heart, I rather would risk my life, than to engage them in an operation which would be ruinous to them." Hopes no new articles will be inserted in their agreement, as the French settlers have spent everything they have to settle in America. Wants her countrymen to have an asylum of peace.
