Content Description Duplicate of GLC02437.05742. GLC02437.05742 is in French. Discusses land deals involving herself, Knox, [Jean-Baptiste] de la Roche, and [William] Duer. States that Mr. de la Roche has gone to the eastern lands to hopefully provide stability. Says [Henry] Jackson has assured her that he (Knox) will keep to the conditions of the contracts. Notes they (she and Roche) have titles for about half their land but they cannot move forward until they receive the 306,000 acres from Knox and Duer stated in the last contract. Expresses her frustration with Duer, who she claims last minute changed the contract without her approval. This caused a delay in her returning to Boston and resulted in her arriving only a few days before the court was to hear the case. Stresses the need for Knox to quickly settle the affair if they wish the Frenchmen people to settle on their land. States, "you will be convinced sir that the number of French people arrived in America are obliged to make soon choice of a spot of the Continent where to settle and to reunite, and that this choice once made all the Frenchmen on the Continent will follow them, if you Do not loose [sic] time, and the settlement at the eastward is the first in operation, then the French Colony will be in the Maine..." Noted as a translation of the original.
