Content Description Informs that President Andrew Jackson is to assist in the laying of the cornerstone of a monument to the memory of George Washington's mother on 7 May. States that members of the President's cabinet are invited to attend. Asks if a case Williams is to handle will keep him in Baltimore that day, if so, the President will excuse him from attending.

Additional Information Taney was appointed Attorney General of Maryland in 1827, then became President Andrew Jackson's Attorney General in 1831. He served as Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court 1836-1864. Williams was a Baltimore lawyer, state senator, and United States District Attorney for Maryland, 1824-41.
