Transcript	Show/hide Trenton July 4th 1780 Having the honour to be appointed by the Ladies of Trenton, this day assembled, to solicit Mrs Morris's concurrence and assistance in the benevolent scheme to raise by subscription of the Ladies throughout this State, a sum of Money, to be presented the Continental Soldiers: and not doubting, from the well known affection Mrs Morris has for the Glorious Cause they are defending, she will accept this application and give it the Sanction of her example & influence. I am directed to enclose the within subscription papers - Some of which you will please to put in such other hands in your County as you shall judge most eligible to promote the humane purpose of rendering the situation of those brave Men more comfortable and shewing the sense the Ladies entertain of their Merit. I am with respect Madam Your most obedient Humbl Servt M Dagworthy Mrs Genl Morris P.S. as the Ladies in your part of the State may be desirous of knowing what is generally subscribed in this - for their information I have made the following extract from the Trenton subscriptions . Mrs Dickinson 5,000 D. Mrs. Hooper 4,000 D. the Miss Cadwaladers 1,400 D each & other Ladies as their inclination or circumstances admit the intermediate sums from those mention'd to 100 Dollrs [docket] M Dagworthy July 1780
