Additional Information | Marie-Thérèse de Grégoire, née de La Mothe Cadillac, was the granddaughter of Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac. de La Mothe was a governor of Louisiana, one of the founders of Detroit, Michigan, and the namesake of Cadillac cars. Madame de Grégoire claimed the inheritance of the island of Mount Desert through him, as the island was a gift from Louis XIV in 1688. |
