Content Description | Written in Samuel Shaw's hand. Costs for Knox during the war. It is noted that all accounts are kept "in Currency of 7/6 to the Dollar." Most of it is for sundries, clothing, loans to various people, and room and board. Some interesting items include: a purchase of a saddle by Benjamin Lincoln from Knox on 1 July 1777, a notation that "Lt. Col. Hamilton R'd C. to the Commander in Chief" on 3 August 1777, a note that Lucy Knox was given $500 on 20 November 1777, and a note on the expenses of Lucy Knox's travels from Fredericksburgh, New York to Booneton [Boonton], New Jersey. |
