Washington June 13. 1841 Dear Madam; The accompanying resolutions adopted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States, will convey to you the deep simpathy felt by the Representatives of the States and of the people, in the sad bereavement which yourself and the Country have sustained in the death of your illustrious husband - It may now justly be considered that the public archives constitute his enduring monument, on which are inscrib'd in characters not to be effac'd, the proudest evidences of public gratitude for services renderd, and public sorrow for his death - a great and a united people shed thier tears over the bier of a devoted patriot and public benefactor - In conveying to you, my dear Madam, the profound respect of the two Houses of Congress for your person and character, and thier sincere condolence on the late afflicting dispensation of Providence, permit me to mingle my feelings with thiers, and to tender you my sincere wishes for your health happiness and long life - John Tyler Mrs Harrison -
