Content Description | An indenture contract made between Henry Knox, Henry Simpson Jr., and James Hearsey. Mr. Simpson and Mr. Hearsey agree to perform the masonry work at St. George's [House] (Montpelier) in "Thomas Town" (present day Thomaston), Maine for Henry Knox. The contract includes specific instructions on materials, design, and the dimensions of the rooms, specifically the basement. Mr. Simpson and Mr. Hearsey are instructed to contact Mr. Thomas Vose for materials and daily instructions. A detail list of wages for various phases of the work is provided. Travel expenses from Boston, Massachusetts to Thomaston, Maine are agreed upon. Possibly a copy. Contract was drawn up by Knox's lawyer, Henry Jackson. |
