Title Henry Knox to Isaac Winslow regarding a buyout of the Winslow's interest in the Waldo patent
Date 19 March 1793
Author Knox, Henry (1750-1806)
Recipient Winslow, Isaac
Document Type Correspondence; Land transaction document; Legal document
Content Description Signature is partially missing. Knox says Samuel Winslow is planning to draw two bills, each for $250 at 15 days sight, upon him. The payment is supposed to be an advance for the money Samuel is set to receive for the buyout of their interest in the Waldo patent. Knox will accept the bills. Has written to his attorney Nathan Dane of Beverly, Massachusetts to draw up the necessary papers for the sale of the Waldo lands. Dane will call upon the Winslows for information. Reports that Samuel said it would be too much trouble to find out if there are incumbrances on their portion of the Waldo lands. Is personally willing to accept their "solemn declaration" on this point, but questions "whether there ought not in this case to be legal evidence also?" Considers the sale complete, except for the necessary paperwork.
