Mentions he has heard rumors that there are a 1000 armed men in the back settlement who aim to release the prisoners and oppose the surveying. Also reports on insurgents in other counties. Notes the people in this area [Ducktrap, Maine?] support the insurgents and will not take an active role against them. Also informs Knox that the men who are still willing to conduct the surveys demand higher wages for risking their lives. |
