Title George B. Cook to his sister enquiring about the harvest and discussing his health after a long, cold march
Date 9 December 1864
Author Cook, George B. (fl. 1845-1865)
Document Type Correspondence
Content Description Is replying to her letter from the 2nd. "I am not well at this time." Had a difficult march starting the night of the 7th. The marched started at night and continued until 12:00 AM in the middle of a rainstorm. Returned to camp the next day and does not know where they were marching to. Has heard they were going to Petersburg, but has also heard that they were going to Georgia. Would like to go to Georgia; it is warmer there. Last night was as cold of a night as any that the soldiers have experienced. Asks her to send him another box. All of the soldiers, including W. G. Brown, are well. Asks her to tell their father to write to him soon. Wants to know how much wheat and corn they harvested.
