Additional Information | Francis P. Blair Senior was a journalist and politician. As editor of various newspapers, he exerted influence over Jackson, Polk, and Van Buren. He later campaigned for and advised Lincoln. Blair Jr. served in the Union army and was promoted brigadier-general of volunteers in August 1862 and a major-general in November 1862. |
