Additional Information Samuel Dana was a lawyer, jurist, state senator, and congressman from Groton, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Massachusetts senate, and its president for eight years, and served in congress in 1814-15. He subsequently received the appointment of chief justice of the circuit court of common pleas.
