Content Description Signed as Col., 3rd US Col Cavalry. CDV, Barr & Young, Vicksburg imprint. Osband entered service as became colonel of the newly organized 3rd U.S. Colored Cavalry in February, 1864. He was brevetted brigadier general for "gallant and meritorious service" in October, 1864.
