Content Description Written by Anna to her brother Henry who was in the U.S. Navy. Says the family was wondering what he was doing at the breakfast table this morning. Wants to know if he wants the "Intelligencer" or the "Mirror," or some other newspaper. Says she will still send the "Republican." Says Bishop McGill will be in Harper's Ferry next Sunday. Reports that their father made an offer on the Patterson land of John Janney(?) and says "he asks Pa 32. it is 1.50 more in the acre than he gave but Pa said Mr Janney would have $100 interest to pay. he said there were 129 acres. Pa said he would write to Cousin William to join him in the purchase, when he sees more of the situation and advantages of the purchase." In reference to the secession crisis says she heard there "was quite a crisis in Baltimore ... the money trouble there would affect the Northern cities. We may have troubles but I expect by the time the South Carolina meeting assembles the 17th of December they will have talked themselves [illegible] and will be cooler." Also includes information on family and friends. Some fading throughout the letter. No place written provided, but assumed from previous letters by Anna McSherry.
