Mentions that Henry is going to China and Japan and that he asked what souvenirs to bring back. Asks for pretty silk items. Makes reference to his resignation. Writes on 3 November and says Henry's letters from 12 & 15 September and says several letters were sent to him at Batavia, Java. Writes again on 7 November.
